Twelve of the 43 units will serve homeless seniors whose rent will be subsidized through a project-based rental assistance contract. The Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA) awarded the development to Related California and its partner, Itasker Hollins Community Economic Development Corporation (All Nations Church of God in Christ), through a highly competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process, and provided the land and financial assistance to build this community. All Nations Church provided an additional parcel of land, making this a unique collaboration of combining public and church-owned land to build affordable housing. The combined two sites were entitled using the State Density Bonus Law (SDBL) and SB35 to expedite the entitlements to build 43 units, more than doubling the number of units otherwise possible for this development. Recreational amenities include a community garden, courtyard patio and shade structure adjacent to the community room, plus 22 parking spaces. Lutheran Social Services provides on-site social services to the residents. Glendon is located across the street from The Arbors, Related's 55-unit, affordable senior development, creating efficiencies for property management and social services.
