The Numbers
Located on a 2.19-acre site, 290 Malosi is the first completed 100% affordable development for low-income families in the original Sunnydale-Velasco public housing community, replacing 16 buildings that housed approximately 100 households in the larger 50-acre site. 125 of the 167 units are designated for existing Sunnydale residents. The common area amenities include a community room, secure podium-level courtyard with barbecue area, community laundry rooms, onsite parking for 78 vehicles, and bicycle storage for 167 bicycles.
The Sunnydale HOPE SF revitalization is governed by a long-term commitment and relationship among the City, the San Francisco Housing Authority, Mercy Housing California, and Related California. The overall Sunnydale-Velasco Master Plan will be constructed in phases to include approximately 775 public housing replacement units, 200 tax credit affordable units, and up to 700 market rate units, totaling up to 1,700 new residential units. In addition to housing, construction will include new streets and utility infrastructure, 4.6 acres of open space, a community center, neighborhood-serving retail, a health and wellness center, and an early childhood education center.
