As Project Manager for Related California, Mr. Martinez is responsible for supporting and assisting in all aspects of project management, including the design, financing, preconstruction, and construction of more than 280 affordable housing units in Northern California.
Mr. Martinez comes to Related with more than 5 years of public sector city planning experience. Prior to joining Related, Mr. Martinez was an Associate Planner for the City of Hayward, where he processed complex zoning entitlement applications in compliance with local and state requirements, managed consultants on the preparation of long-range planning initiatives and environmental analyses required per the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), participated in the Government Alliance for Racial Equity (GARE), and presented before appointed and elected decision-making bodies on development proposals and policies. As a City Planning Aide for the City of Claremont, Mr. Martinez was responsible for providing customer service coverage at the Planning Counter to the general public on all zoning and land use matters, and conducted research and data analysis for the City’s Housing Element update. As a Planning Technician for the City of Upland, Mr. Martinez reviewed entitlement and building plan check applications in collaboration with the internal city departments including engineering, building, fire, police and utilities.
Mr. Martinez holds a Master of Real Estate Development and Design from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, San Francisco and American Planning Association, Northern California.
