Balboa Park Upper Yard
Located in the Outer Mission neighborhood of San Francisco on a .71 acre parcel, formerly a City-owned lot adjacent to the Balboa Park Area Rapid Transit Station (BART), Balboa Park Upper Yard will be an affordable, mixed-use, transit-oriented development with 131 apartments for low and very low-income families. The 9-story building will have approximately 10,000 square feet of retail space along Geneva and San Jose Avenues, consisting of five commercial spaces that will include a childcare facility, family wellness community resource center, and bicycle repair and youth bicycle education facility operation by local nonprofit, PODER. Balboa Park is a public-private partnership with the City of San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD) and Mission Housing Development Corporation (MHDC), who will provide intensive social services, including mental health services, crisis prevention, employment support and training, and more. Completion is slated for 2023.
